The BA 23 was Ernest Race's first design for Race Furniture. First exhibited at the 'Britain Can Make It' exhibition of 1946, the design was awarded a gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1958
The BA 23 manufacturing process was revolutionary, during a time of limited resources it used salvaged materials including recast Aluminium from redundant aircraft and upholstery from recycled RAF cotton duck fabric.
This set of 6 vintage BA3 chairs are in great condition, newly upholstered in Varese Indigo velvet by Designers Guild.
Makers mark clearly visible.
